Introduce The Andrews Collection by Maresca Textiles. This new series not only continues the legacy of the cherished Louise Floral design but deeply honors the roots of Kathryn Faull, Maresca Textiles' founder, drawing inspiration from her great-grandmother Louise Bell's Southern heritage in Andrews, South Carolina. This collection beautifully encapsulates the spirit of the South through four new prints, each with curated colorways that embody the landscape's soul and evoke cherished memories from Kathryn's upbringing.
The Andrews Collection by Maresca Textiles seamlessly blends traditional motifs with contemporary aesthetics, offering a fresh homage to the founder's Southern roots. It features four new prints, including the captivating Andrews Floral, the lively Juniper Stripe, the feminine Rosemary, and the coordinating Sassafras, all designed with a thoughtful nod to Kathryn Faull’s heritage and a modern sensibility.
Andrews Floral
In the heart of the collection lies Andrews Floral, a vibrant homage to the wallpaper that graced Kathryn’s great-grandmother’s home, in Andrews, SC, which featured traditional Jacobean floral motifs in shades of blue, red and green. Her design hasbeen updated with a punchy use of color and hand-drawn motifs that provide a relaxed look to an otherwise tailored layout.
As a continuation of Louise Floral, this design uses the same drawing style, a combination of pen and ink and frisket techniques, with astriated ground so the entire print feels hand-drawn.
Juniper Stripe
Juniper Stripe is inspired by the Juniper trees that are common in this part of the South. With prickly leaves that are filled with berries they are somehow both structured and wild. The undulation of the stripe mimics the tree swaying in an afternoon breeze.
Rosemary
Rosemary, named after the avenue that Louise Bell lived on, features a quirky, tossed floral motif with a decidedly feminine feel. Rosemary was designed to color-coordinate with Andrews Floral, yet has enough personality to stand on its own. It is screen printed on breezy, lightweight linen in unexpected color combinations.
Sassafras
Also a street in Andrews, Sassafras acts as a coordinate to the other patterns in the Andrews Collection and uses color as the common thread that ties all of the designs together. The sassafras plant has a three pronged leaf, similar in shape to the motif in this design.
The Wallpaper Collection
Expanding beyond fabrics, they have also translated three of the new designs into a wallpaper collection. Whether paired with their corresponding fabrics for an immersive experience or used with another design for a more collected feel, they are a great addition to the existing Maresca Textiles wallpaper collection.
At Fritz Porter, we're passionate about storytelling through design, and The Andrews Collection allows us to share a narrative deeply rooted in tradition, reimagined for today's contemporary spaces. Kathryn’s knack for slowing down, observing the intricate beauty of her surroundings, and translating these experiences into her designs is a process we deeply admire. It’s a reminder of the importance of heritage, the beauty of the South, and the artistry in thoughtfully crafted spaces.
