Whispers of Folklore: Introducing Annika Reed Studio

Fritz Porter is delighted to introduce our latest collection, Annika Reed Studio, a brand renowned for its whimsical block print wallpaper and fabrics meticulously crafted in the UK. Annika Reed, the creative force behind these intricate patterns, infuses folklore and a deep appreciation for nature into her designs, making each piece resonate with storybook charm and elegance.

Annika Reed’s commitment to reviving traditional crafts through modern design is evident in her use of woodblock printing, ensuring every pattern carries a touch of the artisan's hand. From her studio, she creates designs that not only embellish spaces but also inspire and tell tales. We had the pleasure of catching up with Annika to discuss her creative process, inspirations, and aspirations. Here is what she had to share.

Diving right into our conversation, what's one thing can make your day better?

A: A full night’s sleep. I’ve got a toddler who’s just turning two, so if he sleeps through, it transforms my whole day. The little things are the big things right now.

If you could be best friends with one storybook character, who would it be?

A: Patti Smith—though it’s a bit of a cheat since Just Kids is a memoir. But that book is one of my all-time favourites. I’d have loved to be part of 1960s New York, living in a shoebox and chasing art and music.

What’s the one activity you love doing most?

A: When I’m not designing patterns, which really is what I love most, I’m Morris dancing. I’m part of Selwood Bounds, an all-female Morris side based in Frome, Somerset where I live. We dance out and at seasonal festivals like Beltane and the Solstice. Folklore is at the heart of everything I do; it weaves its way into my work and life.

Tea or coffee?

A: Coffee. A proper flat white or an instant —I’m not fussy, I have two a day.

Do you have a dream yet to be fulfilled?

A: Yes, a big one. I’d love to take a year off, pack up a camper van, and travel from Canada all the way down to South America. Before I had kids, I traveled a lot, and I’d love to share that sense of adventure with them. There's nothing quite like hitting the road and discovering the world.

Annika Reed’s designs are now available at Fritz Porter, where each piece invites you into a world where traditional craftsmanship meets modern aesthetics—an ideal blend for any contemporary space with a soulful touch. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover these beautiful creations that bring stories to life in your own home.
