Since its debut in the fall of 2013, 214 Modern Vintage has gone from insider secret to first stop destination for antique, modern and vintage lovers at High Point market.
"Many people still don't know that High Point has vintage. But once they find us, we become their favorite part of market", says Steph
Seeking to create a counterpoint to the maze of giant showrooms, owners Steph Schofield and Hilary Eklund bring together a group of like-minded dealers and friends from around the country. In their 1920s storefront, the whole becomes greater than the parts, as the 7 unique points of view merge to create a space that feels fresh and different every 6 months.
Representing a refreshing mix of named mid-century pieces with pedigree and provenance, decorative accessories, vintage paintings and sculpture, lighting, and a healthy selection of oddball elements to keep it interesting and edgy, 214 Modern Vintage is a favored destination of not only market goers, but showroom owners themselves.
It's not uncommon for the showrooms featuring new product to be peppered with vintage art and accessories sourced at 214. "It's how people decorate today, and the showrooms know it. The vintage pieces add soul and interest; we love seeing Julian of Julian Chichester every market. He's always buying art for his home." says Hilary.
Now, in the Atelier space at Fritz Porter, 214 Modern Vintage has a unique opportunity to take their vision on the road. Steph and Hilary are excited to present a mix representing all 7 dealers to thevibrant & growing design and retail market here in Charleston.
214 Modern will be with Fritz Porter for the entire month of September 2016. After that, catch them at High Point Market October, 19-26.
